For gamers of a certain age, Atari's Star Wars was perhaps the most famous, sought after, and hotly contested video game arcade machine around. Its spectacular polygonal graphics, high-speed 3D combat, and upbeat music have had countless school children jump right into the cockpit of the iconic X-Wing. And now he's back!

But it's better than ever, with three distinct games included, upgraded stereo speakers and a true arcade-style illuminated sign. And yes, the awesome flight control stick is still there, but in a slightly smaller version than the original. Like the Atari arcade of forty years ago, Star Wars Home is a single-player machine.

Stay on target

Play the Atari games Star Wars (1983) and The Empire Strikes Back (1985), two high-speed, polygon-based 3D shooters in which you pilot X-Wings, Snowspeeders and even the Millennium Falcon. The game also includes Return of the Jedi (1984), a sprite-based third-person shooter and fast motorbikes. Each game is officially licensed and is in every way faithful to the original.

The handle is modeled after the original Atari handle, complete with trigger and thumb fire buttons. It allows you to precisely control the ship you pilot. Use the intuitive game selection menu to choose the title you want to play and load it instantly. Now you can play these iconic games without having to beg your dad for change!

Star Wars Home has a slightly different casing than most Arcade1Up machines, with a 17-inch screen tilted at the perfect angle for controlling starfighters. Downward-firing speakers recreate the original sound effects, vocal samples and, of course, John Williams' rousing score. Crank up the level using the handy volume control and you'll have to pinch yourself to believe you're not back in the 1980s seaside arcade.

Original, licensed artwork decorates the entire cabinet, and the illuminated canopy gives that quirky arcade vibe. A faux coin door on the front adds to the illusion, and of course you'll get the matching riser, the artwork of which lines up perfectly with the main machine. Use the riser to increase the height of the machine by about 30 cm, so that you can play standing up or sitting on a stool. Face off against TIE fighters in ultra-smooth high-res action, soar over the surface of Hoth or take up residence in the Death Star Trench, and remember: the Force is with you.
