Ten years have passed since the death of Qui-Gon Jinn (see "The Phantom Menace"). The Republic is now at odds with the Separatists, and the Jedi are struggling to maintain order in the galaxy. Working for peace, the ex-Queen Amidala, who has become a senator (Nathalie Portman), narrowly escapes an attack. The mission to protect her and find the terrorists necessarily falls to Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and his padawan Anakin (Hayden Christensen), who has grown up.
