Ao (blue in Japanese) is a young painter who specialized in portraits. He lives in a magical city which is a secret area of ​​the Paris catacombs. He works for an unfriendly boss and his approach is marginal in a world where photography has replaced painting for portraits. One day, a somewhat strange customer places an order with him, but he is wearing a hood. While talking with him, Ao learns that he is going to a very important wedding, that of a "monster", decided almost 80 years ago by the community of magicians. Ao's boss has formally forbidden him to use the color blue for his portraits, but the young painter asks his client if he can and the latter accepts. As he begins to use this color, the paint suddenly shoots out of the canvas uncontrollably. Mad with anger, his boss slaps him, but in the meantime, the client's hood has fallen off, revealing an animal woman named Gisèle. She tells Ao that what he has just done is a very rare form of magic that reminds him of a certain Rudolph II and that the color "Prussian blue" seems to be linked to his fate. She then leaves him, because she is late for the famous wedding which is hers!
