Luka , an orphan taken in by the leader of a group of mercenaries, is not like the others: a branch grows on his skull and he can see sounds, materialized by lines of light... However, the upcoming battle could be his last: this time, he must take up arms… and above all, among his opponents are other “hipsters” endowed with various supernatural powers! They make a massacre in Luka's ranks, and the latter, wounded, seizes a bugle to sound the retreat... It is then that his true power is revealed and avoids a complete rout for his allies.
Witnesses to his exploit, the enigmatic adversaries seize him. Luka awakens in a city surrounding an immense tower, a vestige of ancient times and a source of magic... His new companions are the protectors of the place, governed by a mysterious pope. He makes an agreement with Luka: if the boy puts his power and his tactical gift at his service, he will help him become a musician. Without knowing it, the young prodigy finds himself embroiled in a war whose stakes are beyond him!
